A Vertical Community Church Update

Acts 14:27 says, “Upon arriving in Antioch, they called the Church together and REPORTED everything God had done through them and how He opened the door of faith to the Gentiles, too.”

Back in August 2014, my family took a HUGE step of FAITH and followed the Lord’s calling upon our lives. After wrestling and much prayer, it became obvious to Amy and I that HE was calling us to step out of our comfort zone, pack up our belongings, move away from close relationships that had been built over the past 9+ years in Lufkin, TX and plant a Gospel-Centered Church. Through many answered prayers He pointed the way for us to return to Northwest Arkansas, a place we had left 12 years ago.

Vertical Community Church has gone from being a vision that the Lord has placed on my heart to being a group of believers who have met 8 times now as of this past Sunday. We have seen God grow it from 16 people on the first Sunday to averaging around 32-35 people today. We are not in this to achieve a certain number, but we are in this to see God be glorified, to display the love of Jesus Christ, and to see lives restored by the Gospel. It has become obvious that we are here to love, to comfort, to encourage, to boldly pray, to show compassion to others and to boldly proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am a believer that God will build HIS Church and we are to place ourselves in a position of obedience and trust HIM completely.

The heartbeat of Vertical Community Church is to be a Multi-cultural Church that preaches Jesus-centered messages along with Authentic Community that leads to True Worshippers who Pray Boldly and Serve Selflessly.

The Lord opened up a location in Springdale, AR for us to meet in that holds up to 40 people, but we have outgrown this location and we are seeking a location in Fayetteville, AR that will hold more people and have room for childcare. Please make this a matter of prayer because our current location is becoming a growth-restricting obstacle.

The Lord has stirred the heart of a couple in this area to come alongside us and lead us in worship. Jacob Phaneuf is a very humble, yet extremely talented worship leader and musician. We are extremely blessed to have this couple join us. Also the Lord has stirred the heart of a former youth of ours in Lufkin, TX. Sky Williams has moved away from all her family and friends because the Lord stirred in her heart to move to Fayetteville, AR to help us plant this church. I am praying that God would continue to stir hearts here in Northwest Arkansas and beyond our state borders to join us in reaching others for Christ.

Reaching out to and establishing relationships with other pastors and church leaders in the Northwest Arkansas has been important to us. We are on the same team and seeking ways that Vertical Community can partner with them to reach the over 60,000+ people just in Fayetteville alone who have no relationship with the Lord. We are praying through ways to see that number drop and to see the Kingdom of God be added to.

If you are interested in partnering with us in prayer and would like regular prayer updates please email me at and let me know that you would like to be a part of the prayer team and I will keep you updated with ways you can be praying for this ministry.
